| Molly's prints are made using the state of the art Epson Stylus Photo 2200 printer. The Epson 2200 is the first desktop printer to use 7 color UltraChrome pigment based inks. It provides the highest quality output from any pigment based ink jet. It is a high end photographic printer that reads from a digital scan of the image. It prints at an exceptionally high resolution, so not any detail is left out! These prints have a lightfastness of up to 108 years, so they can be enjoyed from one generation to the next. They are waterproof, and smudgeproof. As always, it is recommended that these, as well as any artwork, be stored or displayed away from direct sunlight and humidity for optimum longevity. Obviously, they are meant to be framed and enjoyed, so under glass in a non-sunny spot would be perfect - no need to keep hidden away in the dark! Molly's prints are made one by one, and she hand examines each and every one of them to be sure the colors and detail are as similar to the originals as possible. What are Open Edition Prints? The open edition prints differ from limited edition prints in that they are made on demand. There is not a set number, rather the quantiny is left up to the discretion of the artist. My open edition prints are printed on beautiful white textured, specially coated watercolor paper created especially for the Epson 2200 printer. What are Limited Edition Prints? The term "limited edition" refers to a set number of prints usually that have been made in a batch. The artist will hand sign and number them. Limited edition prints have a much higher value because once they are all sold, no more will be made. Typically, the first and last print in an edition has a much highter value to the discerning art collector. What are Hand Embellished Prints? These are very special prints and if you are looking for something that really looks like an original painting, this is it! Wheras Molly's open editions and limited editions are printed on specially coated watercolor paper specifically made for giclee prints, the paper used for these is REAL artist watercolor paper. The paper is acid free, and textured. This allows Molly to go in and "hand embellish" them in areas. These really are unique, and one of a kind in that they are touched up by hand to illuminate the colors and brighten areas up. Upon request, an iridescent "fairy dust" can be added to them which is really acrylic glitter paint or acrylic iridescent airbrush medium. If you would like Molly to add the sparkle to your print, just let her know! Some of the prints will automatically have the sparkle - the description will mention it. What are Artist Proofs? When a batch of prints are made, usually there are several trial runs before the artist is satisfied that it closely resembles the original artwork. These prints are called "Artist Proofs" and generally have even a higher value than limited editions. There will be slight variations in color from the end run, but the prints are just as high quality as the limited editions. |
